Lead attribution

Also called: marketing attribution, lead source tracking

Lead attribution is the practice of recording where each lead came from — channel, campaign, page, and referrer — so revenue can be traced back to the spend that produced it.

Why it matters

Without attribution, budget decisions are guesses. With it, you can cut the channel that produces enquiries but no jobs.

Worked example

Tagging every form and call with its source shows that one directory listing produces a quarter of enquiries but almost no booked work, while an organic service page quietly produces the best jobs.

Figures are illustrative models with inputs stated, not audited client results.
